Iftar at the Mosque
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever helps break the fast of a fasting person, he will have the same reward as him without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.”
Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 807.
Every year during Ramadan the mosque makes arrangements to allow people to open their fast in the mosque. Through out the month people donate towards the iftars taking place in the mosque. Meals are cooked daily for over a hundred people.

Sadaqat al-Fitr
Sadaqat-ul-Fitr (also called Zakat-ul-Fitr) is an obligatory charity for every Muslim who possess the Nisab (a minimum amount of wealth); it must be paid before Eid-ul-Fitr (i.e. before the end of Ramadan).
The wisdom behind this act is two-fold:
- to purify the month long fasting of the Muslims
- to enable the poor and less fortunate to also enjoy the celebration of Eid
This years Fitrana is £6 per person.
Please pay your fitrana during the month of Ramadan so that it can be gathered and sent to those who are less fortunate and that they may also have ease at Eid.

Lillah Donations
If you would like to donate to the Mosque and fulfil the needs of the Mosque you can make Lillah donations.
Lillah directly translates to “for Allah (SWT)” in Arabic. As a result, it’s all about giving purely for the sake of Allah (SWT) without expecting anything in return. There are very few rules and guidelines surrounding Lillah, which makes it unusual compared to other forms of Islamic charity like Zakat, which has certain stipulations. The intention behind Lillah is what makes it, as it’s all about pleasing Allah (SWT) and supporting good causes.
Lillah is a mode of charitable giving that’s all about selflessness, compassion, and dedication to spending to please Allah, whether it is for the upkeep of the Mosque or the welfare of others. In order to strive forward in your spiritual journey, you must understand the concept of Lillah and its implications. Not only is Lillah a huge factor in a person’s spiritual journey, but it also works to foster a sense of community and solidarity.
